Helping Kids Succeed Richmond-Style!
Remember when you were young? Remember that adult (parent, teacher, coach, neighbour) who was always there for you? Who listened to you without judgment? Who helped guide you to the right decisions? Who believed in you?
We have long heard that it takes a village to raise a child. Helping Kids Succeed Richmond-Style takes this one step further. We believe every child needs their own personal village. Every child needs the Power of Five.
What is the Power of Five? The Power of Five is based on research that tells us every child needs at least 5 caring, supportive adults in their lives to ensure success and achievement. These adults have high expectations of the child; see what is strong and 'right' within the child; and teach and model skills that will grow the child's unique intelligence and talent. These adults create a web of support for children. These adults help build Developmental Assets® in children.
What are Developmental Assets®? Developmental Assets® are 40 common sense, positive experiences and qualities that help influence the choices children make and help them become caring, responsible, successful adults.
Read Helping Kids Succeed Richmond-Style and find out more about the Power of Five and how you can make build a web of support in your child’s life!
