New Family Law Advocacy Service at Chimo Community Services
Chimo Community Services is launching a new Family Law Advocacy Service this Fall.
Chimo Community Services will be launching its new Family Law Advocacy Services on September 17th, 2018, bringing much needed assistance to low-income and vulnerable clients facing separation, divorce, and other family law related challenges.
Funded by the Law Foundation of BC, the Family Law Advocacy Service will be embedded within Chimo’s existing Outreach & Advocacy Program and serves to further reinforce Chimo’s capacity to assist unrepresented and underrepresented Richmond clients with their legal issues.
One-on-one services provided under the Family Law Advocacy Service include:
- Intake Assessment and Referrals
- General Information and Orientation to the Family Justice System in BC
- Case Assistance and Summary Advice
- Connection to Dispute Resolution Services
- Document Preparation
- Accompaniment Services
“We are proud to be able to offer this new service to our clients,” said Luke Lin, Program Manager of Outreach & Advocacy. “Family law matters can often be challenging to navigate due to personal, emotional, and financial factors, and many self-representing clients find themselves overwhelmed and unprepared to tackle the complications that can often arise. This service will allow us to bridge a critical gap and provide the level of service that is needed by our clients.” Interested parties who wish to learn more about the free service or to inquire about receiving help are encouraged to contact program staff for assistance.
